Job Description


Mega Force is looking for a Quality Inspector. In this position the Quality Inspector partners with manufacturing and engineering to perform inspection duties ensuring all electronic assemblies meet IPC-A-610 workmanship standards, applicable J-STD-001 soldering requirements, customer-specific quality requirements, and PGI's AS9100D QMS requirements for in-process and final product conformance.




DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Inspection & Conformance
  • Inspect all electronic manufactured assemblies for conformance to customer specifications and applicable IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 requirements.
  • Perform machine set-up verifications and First Piece Inspections (FPI) using visual inspection and/or AOI (Automatic Optical Inspection).
  • Perform in-process and final inspections at defined checkpoints as outlined in traveler/routing documentation.
  • Operate and program AOI equipment to execute automated optical inspection routines.
  • Operate and program X-Ray equipment for inspection of BTC (Bottom Terminated Component) solder joints and hidden connections.
  • Perform kit inspections prior to production start, verifying component quantities, polarity, part markings, and moisture/static sensitivity levels.




Documentation & Traceability
  • Review internal Travelers (routing/production paperwork) and verify all required manufacturing steps have been completed and signed off before releasing to the next operation.
  • Understand and interpret all production paperwork including Bills of Materials (BOM), Assembly Drawings, Special Instructions, part specifications, and routings.
  • Document and report all inspection findings accurately and legibly on the applicable traveler or inspection record.
  • Record all identified defects into the PGI QC Rejection/Defect Database in a timely manner.
  • Perform serialization and labeling of completed assemblies and record that information per the applicable work instruction to support product traceability.




Nonconformance & Corrective Action
  • Initiate Non-Conforming Reports (NCRs) in Cetec ERP for specific failures as required, and tag/quarantine nonconforming product per QALTY0050 (Red Tag / Quarantine Area WI).
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, and Quality personnel to investigate and resolve inspection issues.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities as directed by the Quality Manager.




ESD & Handling
  • Adhere to all ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) handling and wrist/heel strap check requirements per QALTY0013.
  • Research electronic component specifications as needed to identify:
  • Component polarity
  • Part markings and part number verification
  • Moisture Sensitivity Level (MSL) and associated handling requirements
  • ESD sensitivity classification




QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma, GED, or Technical School certificate (required).
  • Minimum 5 years of prior work experience in Quality Assurance in an electronics manufacturing environment (required).
  • Experience with PCB/PCBA inspection in an EMS or contract manufacturing environment (preferred).




Certifications
  • IPC J-STD-001 Certified Specialist (required — must maintain current certification).
  • IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) or equivalent (required — must maintain current certification).
  • ESD Awareness training (required per QALTY0013; completed within 30 days of hire).




Knowledge & Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret BOMs, assembly drawings, and traveler/routing documentation.
  • Ability to operate AOI and X-Ray inspection equipment.
  • Basic computer proficiency including data entry, spreadsheets, and ERP/database systems (Cetec ERP experience a plus).
  • Basic knowledge of electronic components and PCB assembly processes (SMT, through-hole, BTC).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to document findings clearly.
  • Attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive precision inspection tasks.




REQUIREMENTS
  • Follow all PGI Quality Work Instructions (WIs) within the QALTY series relevant to inspection duties, including but not limited to QALTY0040 (Surface Mount Inspection), QALTY0041 (First Piece Inspection), QALTY0043 (Through Hole Inspection), and QALTY0050 (Red Tag / Quarantine Area).
  • Comply with all AS9100D QMS requirements and PGI quality policies including QLP001 (Quality Policy).
  • Adhere to ITAR requirements and maintain confidentiality of controlled technical data.
  • Attend all required training sessions as directed by the Quality Manager and maintain training records per QALTY training requirements.
  • Maintain IPC certifications at current status; notify Quality Manager immediately if certification lapses.
  • Report any product nonconformances, process deviations, or quality escapes to the Quality Manager immediately upon detection

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Standard production floor environment; exposure to PCB assembly equipment and associated materials.
  • Must be flexible to work weekends, overtime, or an alternate shift on occasion as directed by the Quality Manager.
  • Use of ESD-protective equipment (wrist straps, heel straps, smocks) is required at all ESD-controlled workstations.




PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, grasp, and lift as required during inspection activities.
  • Extended periods of close visual inspection work; corrected vision to normal required.
