We are seeking a self-motivated, adaptable, and detail-oriented Pattern / Mold Maker to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for the precision fabrication of molds and supporting R&D projects to ensure our fire protection products meet the highest industry standards.
Starting Pay: $15.00 hr
Key Responsibilities:
• Fabrication & R&D: Work closely with the General Manager to create new molds and assist with Research & Development (R&D) projects.
• Production Integration: Actively participate in the production process—using molds to cast parts, sanding, and finishing. This hands-on experience will be used to troubleshoot and improve future mold designs.
• Precision Manufacturing: Manufacture high-precision molds using polyethylene, wood, and rubber compounds.
• Product Preparation: Perform accuracy checks of 3D-printed parts; sand, fill, and prime 3D-printed parts in preparation for molding.
• Testing & Compliance: Conduct procedural tests on production items and maintain test equipment.
• Shop Support: Assist with shot blasting, painting, and packaging during peak production or facility setup.
Requirements and Qualifications:
• Technical Skills: Proven experience in sanding, finishing, and the use of hand power tools (drills, orbital sanders, etc.).
• Shop Equipment: Proficiency with larger shop machinery, including but not limited to table saws and miter saws.
• Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work plans.
• Materials Knowledge: Experience working with resins and wood is preferred (cabinetry or woodworking background).
• Safety Mindset: Demonstrated experience following safety protocols and the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Production Feedback Loop: Actively participate in the casting and finishing of production parts. Use this "hands-on" experience to identify opportunities for mold design improvements, easier de-molding, and increased production efficiency.
