The Quality Assurance Technician maintains quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products, records quality results. This position will support and perform duties related to the client product line which includes plastic, metal, and motorized components. This role will have a concentrated focus on motorized components and electronics OR plastics and extruded metals. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4pm + required OT as needed
Duties and Responsibilities
Review and analyze technical drawings for dimensional verification.
Review and comprehend technical instructions.
Able to perform statistical analysis.
Utilize various metrological devices (calipers, micrometers, comparator, etc).
Measure various dimensional specifications and record the results.
Analyze results to ensure product meets the quality specifications.
Inspect product for visual defects.
Lock down and quarantine product that does not meet quality specifications.
Liaise with customer service, external customers, and Sales Team to eliminate any reoccurring issues.
Perform manual and automated testing, analyzing, and recording related results.
Conduct return merchandise quality testing and fault diagnosis that correlate to the reported problem.
Gather statistical findings on return cases to identify root cause and advise on corrective actions.
Document defects with conciseness, accuracy, and details to ensure defects are not reproduced.
Review end-user notes for accuracy of implemented operations descriptions.
Provide requested status and results throughout the facility.
Interpret technical drawings, documents, and written instructions to resolve issues.
Diagnosis systematic issue within individual product components.
Able to perform root cause analysis on defective product.
Learn about other related mechanical products that are used with Automate.
Conduct return merchandise quality testing and fault diagnosis that correlate to the reported problem.
Gather statistical findings on return cases to identify root cause and advise on corrective actions.
Must be able to communicate effectively and thoroughly (by email or verbal conversation) with suppliers and customers.
Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
Conduct component inspections/investigations based on Customer Complaints.
Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions, calling for repairs. Carryout the calibration of Inspection instruments, gauges.
Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Other duties as may be required from time to time; the incumbent is expected to contribute to the full extent of his/her skill and ability
Requirements and Qualifications
Associate’s degree in technical field required. Four-year technical degree preferred.
Three to five years of relevant work experience in a quality related role within manufacturing & distribution.
Warehousing/Logistical experience preferred.
Hands-on experience with motorization and associated electronics preferred.
Experience in information technology or equivalent experience in a technical discipline
Familiar with CAD software (Solid Works).
