The Grinder Operator is responsible for feeding plastic parts onto conveyor and monitor flow of material to keep consistent flow going to the grinder. Using forklift, retrieve plastic parts from storage and place at conveyor base. Adhere to safety practices at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Clean and visually inspect the machine at the beginning of the shift. The finality of this inspection is to look for anything wrong that could cause downtime during the shift or cause an unsafe working environment.
• Pick up Gaylord with forklift from floor and place at the base of shredder conveyor.
• Feed plastic parts to feed conveyor and monitor flow of material to keep consistent flow going to grinder.
• Break down cardboard boxes.
• Remove and stack empty pallets.
• Keep work area clean and neat; sweep the working area. Keep the grinding machine and conveyor areas clean.
• Assist Supervisor with any maintenance work.
• Used prescribed PPE, including but not limited to protective eyewear and ear plugs.
• Help train new employees.
• Assist Supervisor with other activities as requested.
Requirements and Qualifications
• Must have recent experience operating a sit down forklift
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills
• Must be willing to submit to drug screen and criminal background checks
• Must be able to work alone and with a team
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to work in an environment with noise, dirt/dust, mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, pressurized equipment, and moving objects
