Job Title: General Laborer
Location: Southern States Agronomy Center
Department: Agronomy / Operations
Reports To: Location Manager or Operations Supervisor
Job Summary
The General Laborer supports daily operations at the Southern States Agronomy Center by assisting with fertilizer, seed, and crop protection product handling, facility maintenance, equipment support, and customer service. This role ensures efficient, safe, and accurate handling of agronomy products while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Load and unload bulk and packaged fertilizer, seed, and agricultural chemicals
Assist with blending, mixing, and transferring agronomy products
Operate forklifts, skid steers, and other equipment (as certified/trained)
Maintain cleanliness of warehouse, plant, and grounds
Assist customers with product pickup and provide basic service support
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and facilities
Follow all safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and company policies
Support seasonal demands, including extended hours during peak planting and harvest periods
Maintain accurate inventory counts and assist with stock organization
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred
Previous agricultural, warehouse, or labor experience preferred but not required
Ability to operate or willingness to learn to operate agricultural equipment
Basic math and communication skills
Strong work ethic and reliability
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Comfortable working around agricultural chemicals and dust (PPE provided)
Work Environment
Warehouse and outdoor agronomy facility setting
Exposure to loud noise, machinery, dust, and agricultural products
Seasonal overtime required during peak operational periods
