Job Summary
The Bindery Operator position is to work with commercial machine, and setting up or configuring automated cutters, saddle-stitchers, and folders. Troubleshooting issues with equipment. The position is responsible for working directly with the bindery manager to complete the finishing process on jobs as specified in the workflow. This is partially a quality assurance role, so the ability to understand the parameters of each printing job and an eye for detail are essential. Experience working with a Cannon C650 and Trello Workspace is a plus! Experience working within a print shop is a plus, willing to train the right person.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Operates machinery to cut, fold, glue, trim, bind, and finish the final printed product.
• Reads work orders and sets machine to job specifications.
• Evaluates the quality and appearance of the product as job tickets specifies.
• Adjusts machinery as needed prior to starting job.
• Ensures that companies’ safety regulations and procedures are followed.
•Ensures that all machines are in proper working order.
• Set up and operate commercial bindery equipment, including saddle-stitchers, folders, scorers, laminators, inserters, uv coaters, cutters, tabbers, and various drills.
• Ensure production quality.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations.
• All other duties assigned.
• Warehouse responsibilities.
• Paper stocking.
• Trash and recycling removal
Requirements and Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Previous related experience preferred; past experience working within a print shop is a plus, wiling to train the right person.
• Ability to work as a team.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Familiarity with finishing techniques and equipment.
• Ability to lift and handle heavy materials.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage inventory.
• Commitment to safety and following protocols.
• Successfully pass background report in accordance with policy.
• Ability and experience operating a forklift
• Must be willing to submit to drug screen and criminal background checks
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time, up to 8 hours a day
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs individually.
• Must be able to do quick math for measuring and calculating numbers to perform the job.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
