Shop Laborer Sheet Metal Break Out Opportunity in Burgaw, NC
Job Summary
We are seeking a hard-working and reliable Shop Laborer with Manufacturing Experience to join our growing operation. In this role, you will work in our manufacturing department, operating machines and setting production needs. Under the supervision of the warehouse manager, be responsible for operating one or more types of CNC production equipment. Selects appropriate settings and makes adjustments as necessary to complete tasks accurately, according to specification, and in a timely manner. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the machining field; and able to use common small measuring devices. Performs work to instructions and pre-established guidelines for the job. Follows established quality and safety standards
Duties and Responsibilities
· Assists in production activities by performing the following duties.
· Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
· Breaks out part from sheets/plates, stacks onto skids or pallets.
· Loads and unloads materials, parts, or products onto or from pallets, skids, conveyors, and tables.
· Delivers metal parts or stock to designated work areas for bending or packing.
· Removes metal chips and shavings from surfaces of Break-Out tables and wipes surfaces of tables to remove
excess oil.
· Separates metal shavings, chips, and scrap materials from trash and places them in bins for resale.
· Removes burrs or excess metal from punched, laser cut or machined parts.
· Completes work in timely manner; Strives to increase productivity.
· Observes safety and security procedures; Uses equipment and materials properly.
· Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
· Is consistently at work and on time.
· Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Commits to long hours of work when necessary to
reach goals.
· Monitors scrap hopper and empties as required.
· Actively supports all Cardinal Metalworks activities, i.e., failure analysis etc.
· Supports all job functions by being cross trained in each area.
· Familiarity with ISO standards and requirements.
· Exercises independent judgment as needed.
· Completes documentation required on Work Order
Requirements and Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Solid work history that demonstrates reliability; warehouse work experience is a plus
Able to work on your feet for 8-hour shifts and lift 30-70 lbs. regularly
Basic computer skills for maintaining inventory logs and databases
Good communication skills
